If you don't activate the button, Windows 11 won't be offered via Windows Updates. The easiest option, for now at least, is to avoid the "check for updates" button in Settings > Update & Security. ![]() It is possible that Windows 11 will be pushed more aggressively the closer Windows 10's end of service date approaches. Microsoft did tighten the screws back when it released Windows 10 as an optional update. Whether the process is going to change in the future remains to be seen. Administrators need to seek for the update actively using Windows Updates. Microsoft revealed that Windows 11 won't be pushed forcefully to systems running Windows 10 via Windows Update. ![]() Administrators have a choice when it comes to the Windows 11 update: keep a device on Windows 10, which is supported until 2025, or update to the new operating system. Microsoft's Windows 11 operating system will be released later this year and systems that are compatible with the new version of Windows may be upgraded to it free of charge.
